Betty Laur Art

Art is the universal language, a conversation between the artist and the viewer. It’s thought made visible, experienced in the privacy of the viewer’s own consciousness for his or her enjoyment. Don’t try to understand the art’s purpose; instead, imagine being inside the scene you are viewing and let it take you away from your everyday problems.

Research has shown that viewing art touches inner aspects of our being and promotes deep physical, emotional, and mental healing.

For the artist, creating art is therapeutic. Each work contains challenges—choosing the size, composition, materials, shapes, colors, and message to convey. While I work, I am constantly turning these over in my mind as with pieces of a puzzle, attempting to solve each challenge as it arises. The time it takes to solve the challenges determines how long it takes to do each painting or sculpture, and time flies for me when I am happily immersed in the creative process.
